Rooms for rent for $ 450 to $ 495 per month including utilities and wired and wi-fi DSL in the trendy Westside Waterworks entertainment area just west of Georgia Tech. It is within walking distance of Georgia Tech and just 2 miles north of Georgia State University (ten minutes via bus).

THIS IS PERFECT FOR SUMMER INTERNS - college students, graduate students, professional school students, law students, medical students, international students in Atlanta working in DOWNTOWN, MIDTOWN, or BUCKHEAD for the summer.  Our lease are catered to such in that they begin in early May and end in August. We can usually accommodate other short term summer time frames. And of course if you want to live here longer than August that is okay too.

FURNISHED PRIVATE ROOM FOR RENT EARLY MAY.  ANOTHER AVAILABLE MID OR LATE MAY AND ANOTHER AVAILABLE JUNE 1, 2008.  And probably a couple of others available in May.

See the following article in Air Tran magazine about the Westside Waterworks neighborhood: http://airtranmagazine.com/contents/2007/09/atlanta’s-westside/

The Westside Waterworks area is an eclectic intown area composed of old warehouses (our building is not an old warehouse) which have been renovated into office and residential lofts and restaurants, bars, and interior decorating stores. It's a hot entertainment district. It's compared to New York's meatpacking district which is apt since this indeed, is an old meatpacking district. See www.artery.org. and http://www.artery.org/Directory/Directory.htm It still looks a little sketchy but is not. All the panhandlers and parasites are east of the downtown connector in Midtown proper.  This neighborhood of old warehouses converted into antique shops, bars, restaurants, decorating and design shops, and offices is the hottest and coolest area in Atlanta. But it's not for everyone – again, if you like suburbia you won't like this. (Note that a lot of the photographs of the old warehouses on www.artery.org are the "before renovation" photographs. Those buildings are now magnificent."

As an example of how popular this area has become, office space in one of the old renovated warehouses costs as much as Class A space on Peachtree Street.

One bedroom apartment lofts across and a 75 yards down the street start at $ 1,300  plus utilities.

For information on the neighborhood please see www.artery.org and http://www.artery.org   Among the converted warehouse and meatpacking developments within walking distance are The King Plow Arts Center, http://www.artery.org/KingPlow.htm, Puritan Mill: http://www.puritanmill.com/, http://www.artery.org/PuritanSoapCo.htm, Midtown West, http://www.artery.org/MidtownWest.htm, the White Provision Building, http://www.artery.org/WhiteProvisionCo.htm, http://www.whiteprovision.com, the Means Street Historic District (no web site) – but the web sites of some of the  major anchors are http://www.artery.org/BlockCandy.htm, www.thecontemporary.org, http://www.artery.org/Nexus.htm, http://www.artery.org/AtlantaBuggyCo.htm, and the Westside Urban Market http://www.westsideurbanmarket.com/.

We spend a lot prose on the neighborhood because  that is our strength.   Our very functional $ 450 room is no great shakes but puts you in a middle of a great urban chic eclectic neighborhood.

The above two references are good but they missed a lot.  Below is a more complete list of what makes this one of the top entertainment districts in the city.

Within easy walking distance we have the "BEST OF ATLANTA"  in several categories as designated by Atlanta Magazine, Creative Loafing, Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Insite Magazine, AOL City Guide, and Citysearch:

BEST OVERALL RESTAURANT: Bacchanalia, Quinones at Bacchanalia,   http:///www.starprovisions.com    (This has been rated the best overall restaurant in the Southeast by some rating agencies.).  See Zagat’s rating of top restaurants in Atlanta and see who’s on top:

http://www.zagat.com/Verticals/BrowseTopLists.aspx?VID=8&SNP=ZATLR.  Zagat rates Bacchanalia as the most popular restaurant in Atlanta as well as tops for food.  It and its sister restaurant, Quinones Room at Bacchanalia  (located on the same property an eight minute walk from us) make Zagat’s top five for Décor and its top five for Service.  Essentially, Bacchanalia and its sister restaurant and next door neighbor, Quinones Room at Bacchanalia, dominate Zagat’s ratings of the best restaurants in Atlanta.  An eight minute walk from us.

BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT:  Figo    http://www.figopasta.com/reviewspage.htm

Zagat put it best, “"They love what they do and you can taste it …dazzling fans with scrumptious perfect pastas and innovative, delicious sauces, served with enthusiasm by a charming crew-and you can't beat the price."  An eight minute walk from us.

BEST SOUTHWESTERN RESTAURANT : Taqueria del Sol – at a least a 45 minute line every night of the week to get in to dine.  Must be good – read the reviews.    http://www.taqueriadelsol.com/     An eight minute walk from us.

BEST SEAFOOD RESTAURANT: Six Feet Under       http://www.sixfeetunderatlanta.com/    The deck on top of this old warehouse is a gathering place for all types from all over the city to gaze at the Atlanta skyline – and each other - after dusk.  And the food – delicious.  The deck overlooking the Atlanta skyline is phenomenal but the food – casual seafood pub food - made the place.  Read the reviews.  OUTSTANDING!!!!!   A three minute walk from us.

BEST COFFEE SHOP:  OCTANE    http://www.octanecoffee.com/    You see at lot of student and business types all during the day and evening intently pecking on their laptops in this very cool old warehouse.  The over 100 years old exposed brick walls are decorated with art rotated frequently from local artists.  And if you get caffeined out or want a quiet cool place to sip a Belgium monk or craft beer or select wine – those are available also.  It’s open late.  A 90 second walk from us.

BEST ICE CREAM: Jake’s Ice Cream at the Urban Grind Coffee Shop   http://www.jakesicecream.com/flash/index.html   A legendary Atlanta ice cream maker, Jake, throws in whatever tastes good - Krispy Kreme doughnuts or whatever.  Some of his stuff is too good to keep your waistline down.  My favorite: SLAP YOUR MOMMA, CURSE YOUR PREACHER.  It’s so good you’ll do both.    A four minute walk from us.

BEST BREW PUB:  5 Seasons Brewing    http://www.5seasonsbrewing.com/?q=node/197

Actually not quite here – but their third location of this acclaimed brewpub will be a stone’s throw away when they finish they interior buidout late this spring.  A two minute walk from us.

BEST BLUES:  Northside Tavern    www.northsidetavern.com/     This is authentic – not suburbia.  It is as if someone cut this off the banks of a Louisiana bayou and placed it here.  A real authentic blues dive.   Free music every night except Friday and Saturday nights which require a nominal cover charge.  If you read the reviews, you’ll be there tonight.  A three minute walk from us.

BEST PIZZA: Slice Pizza and Lounge   http://www.slicepizza.biz/      Not just a pizza joint – a large comfy lounge area with sofas in a mid century/New York motif.   Large plasma screens and live music some nights.  A 60 second (1 minute) walk from us.

BEST COLLEGE BAR, CHEAPEST BEER: Rocky Mountain Pizza  http://www.rockymountainpizza.com/home.htm    Again, more of a bar than a pizza joint.  A great heated outdoor seating area.  Trivia nights several times a week with people hanging from the rafters.  Belly up to the large ornamental bar at meet some interesting local characters.  Unofficial headquarters of Georgia Tech sports.  A five minute walk from us.

BEST PLACE FOR A FIRST DATE, BEST CHEAP EATS, BEST STIR FRY: The Real Chow Baby,  http://www.therealchowbaby.com/    One of a kind - great inexpensive food with a festive atmosphere.  Visit the web site to really understand it – and then don’t miss visiting the actual site.  A 90 second walk from us.

BEST NIGHTCLUB:  Compound   http://compoundatl.com/   New York can’t beat this expansive Japanese garden and dance décor.  People line up for hours to get in.  A hefty cover charge to get in and a hefty price for drinks – but it’s well worth a visit.    The crush of patrons to this incredible popular nightspot is one reason why it cost $ 10 to park in the neighborhood on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.  (Remember you have a free spot at out place).  A four minute walk from us.

BEST BREAKFAST, BRUNCH AND CUPCAKES:   The West Egg   http://www.westeggcafe.com/    Where the Westside power brokers meet for breakfast and plan their next move in the neighborhood.  Blueprints are common at breakfast tables here.  A four minute walk from us.

BEST SOUTHER COOKING: Carver’s Grocery Store    Of course there is no web site for this famous lunch place in a falling down corner grocery store where diners share tables with the Governor, federal judges, and construction workers.  It opens at 11 am and by 11:15 am there is a 30 minute line waiting to get in.  The conversation along the line centers on the same theme – “don’t tell anybody else about this place so we don’t have to wait in line so darn long.” A ten minute walk from us.

BEST YOGA STUDIO: Atlanta Yoga      http://www.atlantayoga.com/   Located in an extremely cool warehouse space.  There’s not a better place in town to meet chicks.  A two minute walk from us.

BEST PANINI  Toscano & Sons       http://www.toscanoandsons.com/press.html  A very cool widely acclaimed Italian market with all sorts of Italian specialty foods.  A three minute walk from us.

And there’s much more – art galleries, a theater – Actor’s Express at the King Plow Art Center, but I think you get the picture.  A hip, eclectic, urban chic neighborhood.   The question is whether you can stand living in our $ 450 per month (including utilities) accommodations.
