Director, Program Management / Client Executive
Job Summary:
This exciting leadership opportunity is for a hands-on senior-level professional service executive to lead, manage and enable Sapient’s expansion into the Connecticut area. This individual will work collaboratively with Sapient Northeast region executives to shape, refine, develop and build Sapient’s Insurance and Retail banking practices and operations in Connecticut.
Ideal candidate should have proven track record in leading and delivering Insurance (Retail Banking a plus) related solutions with a profitable P&L over $5M revenue from the top consultancies such as Accenture, AT Kearney, etc. In addition, the candidate should have background in Project Management that encompasses all facets of project management, business development, client management and team leadership. The most typical project roles for the Director, Program Management are Engagement Lead and Client Executive which usually consists of being accountable for delivery of large scale engagements to clients as well as managing the client relationship from a delivery and commercial standpoint.
A Director of Program Management must have excellent senior client relationship management and program management skills to lead teams in distributed environments involved in delivering complex business systems and internet solutions. Relationship building skills, as well as strong leadership and team management skills are key expectations too. You will identify, build and nurture strong, lasting relationships with new and existing clients. Your innovative sales strategy identifies and influences potential customers to generate new business. You work closely with Sapient’s network of strategic alliance partners to identify joint business opportunities to increase customer value and drive revenue growth in your territory. You aren’t satisfied until the client is satisfied. He/she must have a deep understanding of various commercial parameters and their business impact on delivery.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and support Sapient’s Connecticut expansion strategy and execution
- Manages large, complex projects/programs (50-100 people) to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality.
- Leads proposal efforts and sell Sapient’s value proposition.
- Win new work with new and existing customers.
- Manage multiple customer accounts within region.
- Work with Sapient’s network of strategic alliance partners to identify new business opportunities and increase customer value.
- Partner with Sapient’s consulting teams to achieve customer objectives and increase satisfaction.
- Lead diverse teams (i.e., multiple domains, across geographies, potential partners involved) to deliver integrated client solutions that achieve measurable business results for our clients.
- Manage the financial profitability of engagements - costs, collections, etc.
- Build relationships existing and new senior clients and executives
- Identify business development opportunities for Sapient with new or existing clients.
- Lead estimation efforts to define engagements, and develop executable high and mid level project plans.
- Mobilize and manage a team to execute against project plans.
- Manage the growth of the project team.
- Responsible for ongoing client satisfaction. Manage peer-level client relationships (expectations, communications, negotiations, escalation, feedback, etc.). Develops relationships with key client stakeholders and client executives.
- Provide day-to-day project contact for the client.
Experience Guidelines:
- Driven, proactive and self-motivated to meet assigned business goals
- Must have professional services (Accenture, etc.) background with deep knowledge of Telecom, Utilities, Financial Services or Retail industries
- Stationed in Connecticut and is willing to travel within Southeast or as needed.
- Proven track record in delivering solutions to fortune 500 clients
- Hands-on consultative, complex selling and delivery experience
- Willing to work at the clients’ offices to build and shape relationship
- Willing to travel 50% and work remotely outside of Sapient office
- 10+ years experience in Program Management experience with IT, Creative and/or Internet projects. Industry Expertise in Pharmaceuticals required.
- Minimum of 7 years in business development / technology related sales with at least 3 years of specific professional services sales to Sr. level executives of fortune 500 companies.
- Managed a project as the PM for 40+ person team, been part of multiple lifecycles and has been in a client facing role.
- Led one or more end to end implementation projects as a Project Manager.
- Participated in multiple full software development life-cycles.
- Led teams of creative people, including information architects, graphic designers, media developers and copywriters.
- Experience in object oriented design projects and methodologies, and experience managing J2EE or MS .Net projects.
- Familiarity with Agile and Iterative Development (or other new PM methodologies).
- Accountability for budget or client revenue of $5 Million or higher.
- Track record of meeting or exceeding annual quotas.
- History of establishing, expanding and closing complex, multi-million dollar service engagements.
- Competitive industry knowledge, specifically in insurance vertical and retail banking a plus.
- Ability to forecast with background details supporting your assessment.
- Ability to lead a team of people through complex sales cycles.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make compelling presentations to an audience of diverse business stakeholders.
- Strong organization, time management and prioritization skills.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project; knowledge of Visio.
Education: - 4+ year bachelor degree required, Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business or related field desired.
